Chocolate Milk aka Protein Power
In order to keep our student-athletes in peak condition, we decided to give them chocolate milk every day after practice. This is not only a tasty treat after a hard practice but it is also beneficial because it provides fluid and electrolytes for hydration, protein for muscle repair, and carbohydrates to replenish energy stores for the next practice. The students enjoy and are now looking forward to it at the end of each practice.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The only challenge that I faced was how are we going to get the milk every day? Turns out it wasn't a hard challenge at all. I went to our cafeteria manager and told her what I wanted to do, her response was let me talk to my supervisor. When I returned a couple of days later she asked how much do I need? When I told her, we walked into the cooler and she gave me a crate of chocolate milk, so now every day I walk in to get my carton of milk and put it on ice so it's ready for practice.
