Classroom to Farm Experience
Student Ambassadors for FUTP 60 have worked very hard this year to educate students on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. This year specifically, our students were able to win a field trip to a dairy farm for our school. The whole experience opened the students’ eyes to the lengthy process of getting farm fresh foods to schools and grocery stores. In order to get the full experience, students visited a local farm where they participated in a pumpkin patch. Now that they’ve reached their goal, they now get to enjoy the benefits ofy their hard work. Our students have a field trip to a dairy farm coming up where they’ll experience how milk goes from the farm to the lunchroom.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and teachers worked together to write a success story and take pictures that were able to convince FUTP 60 to fund a fieldtrip to a dairy farm for Mountain Ridge high school.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goals by working hard to stay focused on educating ourselves about the importance of healthy eating in order to relay that information to our school.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The challenges we faced were miniscule compared to the motivation our students had to complete their goal. The biggest obstacle they had was getting approval for researching how Mountain Ridge receives farm fresh foods.
