College and Career Day
Local colleges and community members come to our school and teach our students about education, college, and various occupations.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Adults and colleges from the community volunteered to come to our school for the day to promote higher education and occupations. Students worked hard to model collaborative, professional, and respectful behavior for our guest speakers. Students were able to ask questions and participate in activities in every class for a different career or college.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students who never thought about attending college are interested in higher education. Students are exposed to various occupations of which they may not have prior knowledge. Students realize the importance of education and help get ideas from community members of what they can do now to prepare for their future.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The school and community worked together to plan this day for our students. Local members volunteered time to come talk to classes about their jobs; colleges came and set up booths to promote their college, hand out information, and answer questions about college; teachers helped facilitate and recruit volunteers.
