Our kickoff this year was a community glow walk with an indoor and outdoor route due to the cold temperatures. We walked for 60 minutes and then had healthy snacks of milk, fruit, granola and water. We ended the night with all the students getting a prize. The Fuel Up to Play 60 team organized all, with the students writing letters for donations, set up, speaking in front of over 100 people, handing out prizes and cleaning up. It was a successful night!!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students worked together to organize our kick off. Once they worked out a plan, they then came to the staff members to help with some of the items we needed to purchase and to get advice about some of the questions they had.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

This year we did not receive grant money. This year we sent letters to businesses asking for donations and teachers donated their money.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students have taken on some great leadership roles. They have organized events, sent letters to businesses, and spoke in front of over 100 people.
