community tailgate party

We center all our tailgate booths on healthy lifestyle and how easy it is to make those choices. We had over 10 booths ranging from Borden's dairy that brought Eloise the cow. S.F.A nursing teaching on whats on your plate, hydration, how physical activity affects the brain, local hospitals were involved. We also had the Texas Agri-Life of A&M, with the kickoff for Walk Across Texas for the parents as well as students. We had local high school football boys assisting in all physical activity games.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students lead this Play by passing out flyers and getting the word out to the other community members. They, also assisted in all the setting up the tailgate booths. Also, assist in passing out the track records and assisted in the Walk Across Texas. It was joy to see the leadership skills being used in the event.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Our children are making healthier choice. We, took a group of students on a field trip last week to a restaurant and all of them order water instead of sodas. My heart just beam to think that Fuel Up is making a difference in our students lives.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our, main goal was to make our students aware of healthy lifestyles and the other organization in the community that have resources. We, met that goal with all the different resources at the party.
