Creek Nation Smoothie Station

We created a smoothie station during breakfast at our school. We purchased a commercialized Vitamix blender for the cafeteria with our Funds. On October 29, we hosted a taste testing event during all four lunches. Marketing students promoted the taste testing event. They handed out free smothies to our students. The smoothie flavor for November is Apple Cinnamon, which consists of apple sauce, apple juice, cinnamon, and yogurt. Smoothies are sold in 8 oz increments on Thursdays during breakfast. So far, we are averaging around 40 sold each week, which is good for us since we only average 200 total for breakfast. We hope to see the numbers increase as the school year progresses. We plan on changing the recipe each month as well.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

I worked with the marketing teacher and our cafeteria manager. Mr. S allowed me to use his students to help promote the taste testing event. Mr. H purchased all of the ingredients for the smoothies.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are having banners made for the cafeteria to promote Creek Nation Smoothie Station. We plan on selling them every Thursday, and then in April moving it to every day.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are eating breakfast in the morning. Students are giving feedback on the recipes they would like implemented.
