With a portion of our funding money, we were able to bring a dairy cow and calf to our Fuel Up to Play Kickoff event. The students loved greeting the animals. Local farmers came and answered the students questions, like how does milk get from the cow to the store. We are so grateful to have had this opportunity to teach the students about nutrition and dairy farming.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen the students take more of an interest to the food they are being served. They ask more questions about when items were cooked, how fresh they are. They check dates and generally eat a little healthier

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We encourage students to take milk and remind them of the dairy cow. We promote healthy eating every day.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students are naturally curious and adults are more than willing to share their knowledge and experience with the students. It makes for an easy, fun relationship.
