Our school’s Fuel Up to Play 60 ambassadors are promoting milk consumption during breakfast, lunch and at after school activities. Each ambassador has learned the importance of drinking milk, and they are spreading the word. During breakfast, ambassadors promote milk by saying “it’s a great way to start your day”. During lunch, ambassadors remind students to rehydrate with chocolate milk. Our ambassadors are aware that chocolate milk is a good way of replenishing nutrients after a vigorous recess. A group of 5th graders drink chocolate milk to stay hydrated while working in the school garden. This is a project that was started by our ambassadors. Students work in the garden after school. They work for about 45 minutes and the sun does drain the body of fluids, so our ambassadors stay hydrated by drinking chocolate milk.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Ambassadors meet with teachers once a week to game plan.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Students promote drinking milk during school and after school by using the morning announcements systems during lunch and requesting milk for after school functions.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Each year, a new group of ambassadors are selected and review and promote previous plans. This year's ambassadors have done a great job of promoting milk.
