Our 5th and 6th grade class led the rest of the school in learning some fun dances. Even the teachers got involved. Once a month we would all meet to learn dances. It was a ton of fun. Several times during the year we invited local health and fitness professionals to lead in stations with different types of exercises and use different kinds of equipment. Guests included a local fitness trainer, a martial arts trainer, and someone from our local physical therapy department. The kids loved it and were always asking when is our next rally. Students in our school are now exercising in class with various websites like indoor recess. It has been a positive force for change at our school.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and staff take part in the rallies together and exercise alongside each other. Older students learned the dances and chose ones they thought were easy enough for the younger students to learn and have fun with. Staff encourage students to be more active during recess time. In bad weather we pick a room and put GoNoodle on and the kids do indoor recess and remain active. Teachers allow exercise breaks during the school day.
