DCMS Student-Led Physical Activity Breaks

We have several students wishing to become Fuel Up to Play 60 Ambassadors and they chose this particular Play for our school. The P.E. classes will be divided into teams for three-week units. When teams are not involved in the game/activity being played, they will be creating an exercise routine for our school-wide DCMS physical activity breaks in the classrooms. The students are responsible for the choreography of their videos. These videos will be aired at the beginning of sixth period daily.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

This particular Play will last all year and it will give all students a chance to share their work with the rest of the school. Students will be creating these videos all year in P.E. class.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

This particular Play required the teamwork of teachers, administrators, and students. We wanted the students to have the opportunity to get some physical activity in the classroom and this seemed to be the best fit for everyone.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge was getting the students to relax and get comfortable in front of the camera.
