Disc Golf
We like to invite businesses in our community that promote health and wellness to participate in many of our events throughout the school year. In addition to CATCH Night in the Spring, we host activities for our students to learn about new opportunities in our area. This year, we invited a disc golf company to come out and teach the kids all about the sport of disc golf. Disc golf is a fantastic sport because it is a lifetime sport and is very fun. Unlike golf, however, it is not as expensive and there are over 100 public disc golf parks in our area of Austin. Our school also purchased new disc golf baskets and our Fuel Up to Play 60 team is working on getting permission to permanently place these baskets around our school so that they can be used for recess or workout for wellness time during the school day. The community would also be able to use these targets/baskets as well. I share many photos on Twitter and Facebook and tag Fuel Up to Play 60 :)

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to permanently concrete the disc golf baskets and create a course at our school for future use for students, staff and our community. We also plan to secure funds to buy more discs and involve our Fuel Up to Play 60 team in an effort to keep this Play going throughout this school year and beyond to keep our community healthy and active!
