Dodgeball Why it Works

Every morning I am greeted by screaming kids waiting to play dodgeball. They have a blast running, throwing and jumping every morning for half an hour. This year, we were able to purchase more balls through the FUTP 60 grant. It's a great way for them to start the day!

How did you accomplish your goals?

We don't have a lot of rules. The students regulate themselves and I seldom have to get involved. We have other staff volunteer so we can play every morning.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We used the grant to buy specific dodgeballs that don't hurt when you are hit with them.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Dodgeball has become part of our culture. We now play at lunch, during our resource hour and pretty much anytime we can. It has grown into the high school and everyone has a good time. The downside is that we go through dodgeballs much faster.
