We held our first Dodgeball with Dads night at our school. We are a Title 1 school that has a 43% mobility rate. We have a lot of kids whose parents are incarcerated or absent from them. A lot of single moms and grandmas make this place great. So when we hosted a Dodgeball with Dads event, we were not expecting 71 dads to show up. We had a blast encouraging our parents and kiddos to be active. We played several forms of dodgeball, taking on the dads, uncles, grandpas, and whoever filled in as dad for our students. Every dad left sweaty and appreciative of the workout. The students were also exhausted and proud to show off their dads and skills.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We had kids playing with their dads, against their dads, all in the name of dodgeball. The dads walked (hobbled) away with some ideas to spice up their activity time with their student.
