During the month of October we celebrated Drink the Pink Milk Mustache Campaign, where students were encouraged to drink more strawberry milk to bring awareness to breast cancer. Students were encouraged to create a pink milk mustache using smoothies made from milk, yogurt, and strawberries. They also were also given sticker mustaches to wear during the event. This event was celebrated during all school lunches to give every student the opportunity to create a pink milk mustache.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The Fuel Up to Play 60 student team had the opportunity to work with the Child Nutrition department by helping them to pass out milk mustaches, giving out smoothies, taking pictures, giving incentives, and selecting students to play at the dairy booth.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are using posters and pictures of students making milk mustaches in the cafeteria. This will remind students the importance of eating healthy, being active, and making a difference every time they step in the cafeteria.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen improvement in the consumption of the pink milk. More students are drinking it during breakfast and in lunch. The Fuel Up to Play 60 student team constantly reminds other grade levels of the importance of drinking milk and eating fruits and vegetables.
