At the beginning of our school year, our local gardening association had several of their members volunteer their time and knowledge to helping us build and plant our very own garden. During the course of it all, we learned about the soil, appropriate watering, and the benefits of fresh foods. So, with the cooperation of plenty of classmates, the students took care of the their very own garden. They watched in amazement as the vegetables they planted grew and actually became something they recognized, from carrots, squash, lettuce, broccoli, to cilantro. These students enjoyed the time spent together and enjoyed eating what they grew.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Having the adults facilitate the gardening process, while the students learned and asked questions, thus providing a learning opportunity every time they met at the garden.
