Eating with My Hero
Last week our school, San Pedro Elementary, had community hero's come out and join us for breakfast. After eating breakfast with the students the hero's spoke to our students about the importance of eating healthy and exercise. Robstown Police Department, Robstown Fire a Department and Robstown Constables all made a positive impact when speaking to our students about how important it is to eat healthy to do their jobs. It was a great experience!!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

This could not have been done without the help from classroom teachers, parents, cafeteria personnel , and students. Cafeteria staff prepared the breakfasts and put them into baggies and coolers with drinks for those students eating in the cafeteria with the heroes. The classroom teachers stayed with the classes as their students ate and also got to eat with the community heroes.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I plan to make this last all year long by having further community heroes come and join us for breakfast.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our goals were accomplished through prior preparation and planning. Weeks before the event community heroes were invited and the cafeteria was decorated with personalized welcome signs. The main goal was to show the importance of our students eating breakfast and our heroes ate breakfast with our kids.
