Super “Bowl” Party

Edison Middle celebrated the week before the Super Bowl with two challenges for our students. The first challenge was to host a team jersey day. Students were to wear their favorite’s team jersey. The homeroom with the highest participation received a nutritious breakfast the following week. The winning pro had a 93% participation. School wide we had over 300 students participate. The second challenge was to bring a sample of their favorite Super bowl snack. Our committee found three teachers to judge and award the top 3 with gift certificates to their favorite store. Here is out top place winner recipe. First Place- Kinsey C.  Rye/Pumpernickel Bread. Shredded Mozzarella cheese to which you add just enough mayo that you can make a spread with the cheese. Add garlic to taste. Spread on bread and top with a slice of tomato and garnish with dill.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The student team worked with administrations and staff to arrange the event. They secured judges for the contest.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our goal was to get at least 30% of our students to participate in Jersey Day. We accomplished that by making posters, public service announcements, and putting an incentive behind it.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Keep promoting physical activities and healthy snacks through various challenges. We have more plays to complete and are in the planning stages before the end of the year.
