For World Milk Day, our students had the opportunity to meet a local dairy farmer and one of his calves, Elmer (he was 2 days old)! The owner, Dr. Johnson, from Providence Dairy, explained to the students the process to get milk from the dairy to the grocery stores. After his presentation, he answered questions and allowed the students to pet Elmer! We also held a string cheese taste test! A few days after the visit/taste test, the cafeteria manager said she saw an increase of dairy consumption, specifically milk, cheese, and yogurt. The experience is one that I’m sure our students will always remember!
