We (Physical Education Staff) started the Annual Fun Run as a way for students to get active outside of class and promote PE. This year, we had over 180 students participate in the race, which is our largest yet. Besides getting kids active and healthy, we also encourage students to sign up for Fuel Up to Play 60 and submit the turkey trot as their first event. Additionally the race entry fee is a nonperishable food item that we donate to our local pantry. It is a great way to give back to the community while getting students active and healthy. Winners (boy and girl from each grade 5/6) receive a medal along with a $25 gift card to Tops Markets to use towards their families’ Thanksgiving meal. All finishers received a participation ribbon along with a healthy snack and water during the awards presentation. The event continues to be a success promoting habits like running and healthy eating, as well as the FUTP60 Program.
