We just started to get our Ambassadors in place at South Side. We have Student Ambassadors from 2nd grade-5th grade. What impressed me the most is the dedication I am seeing from these Ambassadors. Our goal is to increase the physical activity during recess because we noticed students not being active during their recess time. We brainstormed and talked about creating structured games so students can increase their heart rate during recess. Three third grade students created a game called The Tower of Baskets. The goal of this game was to get students moving. The students designed the game and drew out a picture along with specific exercises that students will perform during the game. I was extremely proud of their innovation and team work in making this happen.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The game is run by students so the struggle was other students coming over and not playing the game the way it is supposed to be played. We got the recess supervisors involved to help keep the game under control.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

More students joining the Fuel Up to Play 60 team and more students being active during recess.
