Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation, Student Leadership, Teamwork
We partnered with the American Heart Association to host a Jump Rope for Heart event at our school. Throughout the day, students took part in heart healthy jumping activities with hula hoops, cones, jump ropes, and jumping sticks to raise money for the AHA here in Tucson. Our SWAT team took the lead to plan and host the event for their peers by leading the activities and promoting the event with poster and flyers. Students also were able to take the pledge to Fuel Up to Play 60 while they were participating. Together, we raised over $900 for the American Heart Association!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Our SWAT team worked with the PE teacher and monitors to plan and promote the event. They presented their ideas to the supervising adults and were excited to get started once their ideas were approved. The students promoted by creating posters and flyers for the event and teachers got involved by encouraging their students to participate. Everyone was very excited to help!
