Over the past four years, we have been holding a Family Fun Fitness Night at one of our county schools. The first year we did it, we had two schools involved and around 50 people in attendance. Today, we have over 7 schools and more than 200 people in attendance. At our Family Fun Fitness Night, we have over 20 more vendors and presenters that set up at one of our schools and give out healthy information to the community. The event includes vendors such as: Health Dept, YMCA, doctors, dentists, physical therapy agencies, Fitness centers, bounce houses, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Heather Generations, Go365 program, and our county schools and many more. Last, but not least, our very own Fuel Up to Play 60 representative gives out taste samples of smoothies. It is a great night full of healthy food, activities, and lots of valuable information for the community. It has been wonderful to see how the Family Fun Fitness Night has grown over the past 4 years and the county is trying to get all their schools involved to make the community healthy with life saving information.
How did you accomplish your goals?
We got as many of our county schools in the community involved to work on getting healthy agents to set up a booth at our Family Fitness Night. Working together, we were able to accomplish a lot of things to help the community. Working together made a big difference in meeting our goals.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Each school had teachers, students and community agencies working together to put on this big event, which has grown so much over the past four years.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We started working on this Play back in November of last year. Having teachers and students make a plan for success on an awesome Family Fitness Night
