Family Wellness Night

Our FUTP 60 team worked cooperatively with our staff wellness committee to put on a Family Wellness Night. Over 200 people attended on Thursday, January 28th. Families rotated to four stations. FUTP 60 students assisted families and organized the evening. We offered an adventure activity when parents and students were able to use our rock climbing wall and do adventure activities with a certified adventure instructor. We offered 2 volleyball games, parents vs. kids or beach ball volleyball for our younger students. Yoga was taught by a certified instructor. And, finally we offered healthy snacks: "Take it" make your own trail mix, "Try It" low fat Wisconsin cheeses (Farmers, string and medium cheddar) along with hummus and veggies, "Make it" yogurt smoothies. Families were very appreciative and enjoyed the evening.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The FUTP 60 students planned the evening activities and asked the school wellness committee to chaperon stations.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We were not sure how many families to expect. Planning for the food and stations was difficult. Also, since it was winter we had to find a place for 200 people's coats.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goal by working cooperatively with the wellness committee. Also, the students broke the overall team into groups and split up the work.
