Farm to School Meet and Greet
Throughout the month of October, Hillsboro City Schools served various foods raised by local farmers. On October 25th local dairy farm, Starlite Dairy and Grain, provided free ice cream to all students and staff. Starlite Representatives mingled with students and passed out ice cream during school lunches. Superintendent Tim Davis and other school employees dressed up as cows and milk cartons. A local Hillsboro newspaper reported on the event and The Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Students were introduced and educated on locally grown foods.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to continue to reach out to more local farms that want to participate in these events.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students and Staff are enthusiastic about meeting local farmers and understanding where their food comes from.
