Farm to School with Shatto Milk

Shatto Milk Company is a family at our school so they donated milk for all our students to try! Each class came to the lobby for a 20-minute session. Our leadership team had the idea to have the students guess what flavors of milk they were tasting, which included root beer, cotton candy, banana, strawberry, and cookies & cream flavors. Shatto Milk has fun flavors! We talked about how the milk gets from the dairy farm to the store including a video and photos. Mrs. Shatto talked with some of the classes about the milking process, which was really neat to hear from her! We talked about the importance of dairy and calcium in our daily lives. Our students are excited about trying different flavors of milk and having milk/dairy 3x/day!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The leadership team decided how the taste testing would work. Students and parents worked together to make the event a success.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goals with education to the whole school about the importance of milk and dairy in our daily lives. We got the kids excited about new flavors of milk and how "cool" it is to drink milk!
