Fast, Fresh Veggies

Our kitchen was able to purchase a fruit and vegetable slicer with the Funds we received through Fuel Up to Play 60. Our kitchen manager is so happy to report that prep time on fresh fruits and veggies has been "cut" in half!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

With the increased population of our school we were able to use the equipment that was purchased to have more students working on skill development during their physical education classes. There was less wait time and more students were moving at once. This helped a great deal with helping students towards their 60 minute PA goals.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We had some miscommunication with who would be purchasing the kitchen equipment so the kitchen was not able to utilize their purchases for as long as we had hoped. In the future we will all know our roles in the purchasing of equipment with Funds received.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students have had the opportunity to move more in physical activity which is always our goal. They have developed skill which will lead to them feeling more successful in the activities and will lend to them participating in these activities for a lifetime. With the kitchen purchases we have been able to provide a wider variety of fruits and vegetables to the students because of the ease of preparation.
