Father and Son Reach 100 Miles

My son Ian and I in Houston, Texas, ran more than 100 miles combined last school year. I ran a 100 mile race in a single day, where Ian supported me and ran me to the finish line after 28 grueling hours of running/walking. I always love to inspire family and friends and show them that with perseverance, a good attitude, and hard work, the mind, body, and spirit can accomplish anything. Ian ran his first 5k race last year and I was so proud of him and his achievement. Our family focuses on exercise as a daily protocol and we try to encourage each other daily to be the best we can be. This is my story of how my son and I cherish our time together through physical exercise!

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our combined mileage last school year was well over 100 miles. We accomplished this through weekly training runs and certified races to track our progress.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I plan to make this Play last, hopefully for the rest of both our lives, and to use this positive experience to influence others to be healthy.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and adults work best together when they respect each other and allow each other to be heard. The exchange of ideas and execution of those ideas is very rewarding and should bring the group closer.
