Access to Healthy Foods, Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation, Teamwork
Atlantic Beach Elementary School held their FUTP60 Kick-Off and achieved new heights of success in reaching our students and community! With the help of our PTA, we purchased a smoothie bike kit and used it to promote healthy eating and physical activity at the same time. Our local business partners joined us for the event, making it a celebration to remember. The Bike Bus, The Anderson Performance and Longevity Clinic, Beyond the Box, Web.com, Plantology, Karate America, and True North Health and Wellness joined us to keep our kids active and offered awesome samples during the event, in addition to our Fender Blender smoothies. What a great way to kick off our Fuel up to Play 60 Program!
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We will be reusing our Fender Blender at other events.
How did you accomplish your goals?
Planning ahead, creating a team to invite business partners and coordinating with the school administration.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
New safety measures at school required detailed attention to the dismissal process for getting our students to the event. Lists were made and volunteer help was used to gather the students and bring them to the event.
