Community Involvement

At Smith, we started a running club for grades K-5. We meet on Wednesdays at 7 a.m. on the track. Over 100 students signed up for the club. Parents are welcome to join their child on the track each week. I am pleasantly surprised with the number of parents that join us each week. The students earn plastic feet for their shoelaces with each mile that they run.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I am hoping that word of mouth among the students will encourage others to join. Hopefully, this will become a tradition each year and more parents will participate to show the importance of setting an example for their children to live a healthy lifestyle.
