Fit Club Walks in Community Parade
Carroll Elementary’s Fit Club is 100 members strong and is comprised of 3rd-5th graders, parents, and teachers. We meet weekly, after school for a boot-camp style workout. We train in the areas of strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. This fall, we competed together in the Gary Burns 5K Fun Run, and we also proudly carried our Fit Club Banner in the Frisco Community Parade. Our mission is to spread Fuel Up to Play 60’s message to eat healthy and get 60 minutes of physical activity every day!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and adults trained side by side in a weekly after school Fit Club, they competed in the Gary Burns 5K Fun Run together, and they walked together in the Frisco Community Parade.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Fit Club had a goal to meet weekly and improve fitness levels to compete in a local 5K. We wanted to encourage as many friends, parents, and teachers to join us. It was a huge success! We also wanted to show support for our community and spread the word that kids should get 60 minutes of physical activity every day. We carried our Fit Club banner and wore our Texas Strong t-shirts in the Frisco Community Parade!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Fit Club is a huge success at our school. We plan to meet weekly throughout the year, and look forward to new members joining in the years to come!
