Fit Kids and Teachers

This year at school marks the 3rd year we have had Fit Kids Club. I have averaged 35 students that show up from 7 am and exercise and play games until school starts. We meet 2 mornings per week and receive a healthy smoothie once we are done. I also started a wellness initiative called Step Squad for our entire staff at school. We wear pedometers and record how many steps we have per day and we have various challenges ranging from individual performance to team wide challenges. My school alone (28 staff members) increased the amount of steps per week by over 400,000 steps in 2 weeks. It was a great way to show our students that we take our own fitness serious.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

During the walking challenge the local hospital donated pedometers.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Fit Kids Club continues to grow and is such an inspiration to see how our students get each other to join. And they volunteer to get up at 7 am to workout.
