Fit Kids Miles City

We have had another successful year so far helping our school become a more nutritious and a more active place. Our school has various activities during our lunch recess that students can join. Recently we have started our second year of a Fit Kids Club that runs a couple days per week before school. The club runs from February through the end of April where students show up before school to be more active in the winter months. Along with the club, we have also put our new smoothie machine to work that was funded by Fuel Up to Play 60 and Western Dairy Association, by giving them to our students after our Fit Kids Club days. This helps our students start their day off with some physical activity with their peers and a few teachers and get a nutrient-rich smoothie full of dairy, fruits, and vegetables that tastes great and helps keep our students healthy and ready to learn!!!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are excited about our Ramp Up for Recess activities, and I am encouraged by their choices to become more active and eat more nutritious meals. They realize the impact being active in Fuel Up to Play 60 has had on their lives.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Both students and staff members involved in our Fit Kids look forward to the mornings to start our day off with some physical activity and smoothies after.
