This year, our goal was to administer the FitnessGram twice, once in October and once in March. We wanted to show an improvement in scores. Students were encouraged to practice running, push-ups and curl-ups at home. We also formed a FitnessGram Club. This club meet on Tuesday and Thursday after school for one month. During that time, we played games and practiced our push-ups & curl-ups as a team. This was just another example of how playing can increase our health and well being. The students loved hanging out together, getting some physical activity and working on skills to improve their FitnessGram scores. We tried to reinforce the Fuel Up to Play 60 theme in this after school club.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished this goal my getting students excited about fitness. The FitnessGram Club had over 100 members and the students enjoyed the structured activities. Our FitnessGram scores increased in all areas and the students took ownership of their own fitness goals.
