Flag Football Motivates Students to Be Successful with School Work to Play Flag Football During Study Hall
GMS students signed up for flag football and we put them in teams, got high school referees, schedule the high school gym, arranged dates of the games and tournaments, and developed the rules for the game. We conducted flag football, which helped students get their school work done to play from February until April 2017.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

FUTP 60 and FCCLA students worked with a high school football coach to develop rules for the flag football game, recruit and train high school referees, and arrange permission and dates from the GMS teachers and principal to conduct the games.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Ten teams were formed with approximately 70 students involved who loved playing flag football during a whole school study hall on Tues. and Thurs. Students asked to join who were not on the teams and other GMS students wanted to watch. It was a great success to increase physical activity, team work and leadership.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Now that we have the equipment, we will continue this next year.
