Flag Football Recess
I was very excited to receive my kit and the curriculum at Fondren ES. We were working on football skills in September and October. The students were excited to actually put the flags on. After a couple of weeks in Physical Education, students wanted to borrow the items to play with during recess. The teachers were okay with it and had designated students to check out and return the items. It was awesome to see the students wanting to play a team game like Flag Football.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I plan to keep the equipment up and organized. I also plan to keep the Flag kit available to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to check out and use at their recess.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Since the students were so excited about Flag Football, it was very easy for the adults to keep the students engaged and on task. A rule that the students agreed to was that the quarterback had to play for both sides. It worked out and every student got involved.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

By checking with the teachers 2 or 3 times a week about issues, the teachers had fewer problems with their classes. The students were able to manage and stick to the rules of the game. It was very helpful if the teachers didn't know all of the rules to Flag Football. I really think this will carry over into next school term.
