Foerster Elementary Health Fair
Over the past 5, years we have hosted an amazing Health Fair that has brought awareness to our community and help improve it. We have the Health Fair during school hours where the scholars can participate as well as family. Our community is a low-socioeconomic community and many of the families do not have the resources to get items they need. Our scholars are lacking many things, but they are just as happy as they can be. When they see us they just light up and the smile and laughter cannot be replaced. At the Health Fair, they are able to interact with our community leaders who are willing to go far and beyond to give help. I get excited every year because I want it to be bigger and better than it was last year. Seeing our scholars happy and smiling is more special than a thousand words. We have an absolutely great staff that want the best for every scholar that crosses our threshold.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The scholars and adults worked very well together. All scholars were on their best behavior and we had no discipline issues. This is an important event for our scholars and the scholars are rewarded and given high praise throughout the campus.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I accomplished my goals by having all scholars happy and satisfied, enjoying one another and receiving information to take home. I received a lot of praise over the past 5 years from scholars and parents. I am very appreciative of the recognition, but it is and has been about our scholars.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

This particular year I did not have my assistant, Mrs. Betsy Swindle, with me and I truly missed her presence. She has helped me with the past four Health Fairs and has been a blessing to me and this campus.
