Physical Activity Participation

Our campus this year took running to another level. During their recess time, our teachers helped our students grow a passion for running. They tracked their laps and earned prizes for every marathon they completed. Some students did what was asked for them for the day, and others went above and beyond and ran more to get to their 4 marathons in a year goal. Campus-wide cardiovascular improved was seen throughout the year. I have students tell me daily they went for a run after school or over the weekend with family members.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Cardiovascular endurance was lacking so we implemented and I got all teachers on board to help push for this.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Teachers helped motivate and at times even ran/walked with their students during recess or before school.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Getting students motivated and eager to want to finish their marathon goals. Their classroom teacher and myself running with some classes before school.
