Our school garden produce (eggplant) was utilized by GardenCorps service members to make Baba Ghanoush. Students were invited to participate in a taste test after their meal in the cafeteria. Lightly toasted whole wheat pita bread and strips of bell peppers were the method of delivery for the dip. A poster to record results was placed near the taste test station. The results were astounding!

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goal of encouraging students to try eggplant. The students were very receptive; very few passed the table without trying the dip.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to utilize other garden produce from the school garden to conduct similar taste tests throughout the school year.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Finding the time to prepare, execute, and collect results was a challenge, however with teamwork we made the event happen.
