During our recess time at JFK, students are given several opportunities to use a variety of exercise equipment. Our students' favorite choice is participating in a friendly game of soccer where the competition is so entertaining that it blows our mind how skilled these young students are at this level. The second personal choice is a tie between jump roping and hula hoops because students like to battle each other on who is king or queen of each activity. One of these battles lasted about 7 minutes straight. Students were so excited for their classmates that they sounded like an audience at a semipro football game. It felt great to have students this enthusiastic during recess.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

In order to keep this Play all year long, we will need to rotate equipment every couple of weeks so that students do not become disinterested in the same thing over and over again. In order to keep our JFK students well rounded in an array of sports, we decided to add volleyball and football to the rotation of activities. This would also provide more team spirit and participation within all grade levels during recess.
