During the month of November, students at Otter Creek Elementary had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Farm To You Program presented by the Cooperative Extension Office and the University of Arkansas. Exhibits were set up in the cafeteria that were hands-on. These exhibits took the students from the farm, and showed how food and milk were produced and how these products were used in their body. The students enjoyed learning about farm activities and different parts of their body. We had the opportunity to have parents support when they manned the different exhibits.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I wanted students to be able to realize that food does not just show up at the market for them to purchase. They needed to know that many people are involved in the production of their food.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We were able to man the exhibit with parents and have them interact with the students. They parents presented the material at each unit and students were able to answer questions.
