Fruit and Veggie Challenge

Our community partners from the county extension office challenged our students to a fruit and veggie challenge. The county extension office has been coming in and teaching our students about nutrition. The students have been given the opportunity to taste test new foods. As an ending to the lessons, they had a fruit and veggie contest. I am attaching the chart that the students were responsible for filling out. The students who completed the challenge were rewarded with prizes.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The community partners were able to provide lessons on nutrition for our students. The teachers allowed them to come in and use their classrooms and time. The students were actively engaged in learning and taste testing. They were able to share their experiences with their parents and did a challenge at home.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Providing nutritional facts to students and making them more aware of the foods they eat.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The impact that it has on our students will be lifelong lessons on how to feed their bodies with good nutritional foods. It also taught them how to read nutritional labels on products.
