Eleven of our FUTP 60 Student Ambassadors acted out a skit for the entire school. Roles included various healthy foods and some favorite junk foods. Students were taught the nutritional and caloric content of the various food items. After boasting about which was better, they challenged each other to a tug-o-war contest. The Healthy Foods were victorious over the junk foods, went to the assistance of the junk foods as they weakened and fell on the floor during the contest, and then shared with them ways they could be stronger and feel better like they did. At the end of the skit, the Ambassadors answered questions from the students and then led them in an exercise class. An educational and fun time was had by all!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students worked with the adults in gathering and researching facts about the foods portrayed in the skit.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

One student was absent on the day of the skit, so another student who applied to be an ambassador stepped up to help fill in and act out the absent student's role.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

With help of input from our student ambassadors, our school has developed a new "Approved" snack list for classroom parties and rewards. The goal was to eliminate the all-to-frequent extra large cupcakes that were being brought into school during celebrations.
