Access to Healthy Foods, Student Leadership, Teamwork
This year the Kegonsa FUTP 60 team put on a three week food drive to nourish our school and Stoughton community with access to healthy foods. Students worked together as a team to advertise the food drive, collect food and then count the number of items. Because of our teams' efforts, students have access to healthy snack and lunch alternatives. Families also have access to the items we collected. We have seen a large increase in the use of our food pantry since the drive from both students and families.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Our student leaders did a large majority of the food drive work by making posters and announcements advertising the drive, collecting food items from classrooms, counting food items and organizing our food pantry. Our adult staff helped by advertising the drive on social media and collecting food items in their classrooms to be picked up later.
