Fuel Up for Fitness Club

Today students started their Fuel Up for Fitness Club. Students in my classroom chose to do the 100 Mile Club Play and they thought it would be a cool idea to invite all the kids in the school to join an afterschool program to start up the club. Today we started! We began with stretching exercises from GoNoodle. Then we split into two groups. Half of the kids went with Mrs. K and started walking through the school (at a brisk rate.) The rest went to the computer lab with me. With the help of some of my students, we got everybody signed up for Fuel Up to Play 60 and explained how the dashboard and challenges work. At the end, we all met in the gym and did some fun dance exercises to GoNoodle.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We will meet Mondays after school. Students will each get their own pedometers. We will keep track of everyone's steps and convert to miles. The goal for each student is 100 miles. The goal for the group is to make it as far across America as possible.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Adults worked together to complete different tasks with students (walking/computers.) In the computer lab, students helped their peers create accounts, log in, complete challenges and learn how the dashboard worked.
