Fuel Up Kickoff Assembly

The Ririe High School Fuel Up to Play 60 student team planned and organized two Kickoff assemblies, one for the junior high school and one for the high school. Each member of the team had a specific job to do at the assembly. The team explained what Fuel Up to Play 60 is about. They showed a giant check from the Dairy Council. They also shared a powerpoint and had zumba teachers from the community teach the student body dances. T-shirts, footballs, stickers, necklaces, rulers, and bike reflectors were passed out to the students. The assembly was amazing and got everyone moving.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students planned and organized the two =assemblies at Ririe High School. They were the leadership. They contacted zumba instructors in the community to teach dances to the school. They worked with the principal and the Idaho Dairy Council to borrow a cow suit.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The Ririe Fuel Up team is educating the staff and students about the value of exercise. Two X-boxes were purchased with Fuel Up to Play 60 funds. The X-boxes are used during lunchtime, before and after school to get students moving. Other exercise equipment is available for students to use during classroom breaks.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

More students are exercising during classroom breaks, lunchtime, before and after school. Students enjoying working out and spending time together.
