The Forest View Elementary Fuel Up to Play 60 Leadership Team ran an assembly in February for the school. The assembly had a Winter Olympic theme and the students gave information about the Olympics as well as had a variety of activities/competitions for the students and teachers to participate in.
The students brainstormed during our monthly meeting about how they wanted to lead the assembly. Once they decided on the Winter Olympics, they were off and running with ideas. Several of the students created a banner that had the Olympic rings on it. They also printed off many different country flags and put them on the banner as well. The students researched interesting facts about the Olympics and played the game "Two truths and a Lie" to teach the other students about the Winter Olympics.
The students also spent some time talking about how these athletes clearly use good food choices as they prepare their bodies for competition.
The Forest View Fuel Up to Play 60 team showed amazing leadership and worked together to help get the word out about eating nutritious meals and making sure to stay active.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The adults were there to help out and keep the students focused on the goal, but the students did all of the work. They worked together to create a script for the assembly. Other students worked together to create the banner and come up with activities to do during the assembly. Some of the students led the assembly and talked in the microphone to the school. Others helped by moving equipment.
