The energy of the Program Advisors and the excitement of the 7th and 8th grade students were keys to their success at RSMS. The goal for healthy eating was to focus on healthy snack suggestions for parents and milk consumption at lunch and to follow up with the students about the importance of healthy eating. Printed guidelines highlighting appropriate snacks were sent home with the youngest sibling. The snacks brought from home were monitored for a week after the communication. The results were that students were bringing in healthy snacks and making dairy a must at school lunch. The school chose to hold a Family Fitness night and a Turkey Trot before the Thanksgiving Holiday to encourage families to exercise together. The Fuel Up to Play 60 team also started a Walk It Club for students and students are now walking at least three times a day for 5-10 minutes. "Fuel Up to Play 60 has been a wonderful addition to our school. Fuel Up to Play 60 has helped our entire school community make better choices physically and nutritionally. It has also provided our second grade students with the opportunity to shine: to teach our younger students and staff and parents about healthy living!-Andrea Chavez, Principal
