Community Involvement

Our leadership team went to a FUTP 60 Forum in December with our PE and the leadership teams from another elementary school in our district. After the forum, we presented to our school in an all-school assembly. We helped to run Jump Rope for Heart. It was held in our PE classes and we helped to collect money and hand out prizes. All students that were involved made healthy pledges, like playing for 60 minutes a day, drinking only water to stay hydrated and eating new fruits and vegetables. We encouraged wellness and helped to raise $6,200 to help fight heart disease.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We prepared the presentation that was given by students in an all-school assembly. Students helped collect money and hand out prizes.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We had a parent night that was cancelled because of the weather. We got the word out with posters and flyers that went home to parents

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have been doing Jump Rope for Heart for a while now. This year, students made healthy pledges as they participated. We raised more money than we ever did before.
