During our gymnastics club, our students worked together to perform a choreographed sequence for our other student clubs. Our students worked with several of our ASD special needs students, incorporating the students' abilities into their performance. The special needs students somersaults were the hit of the show, eliciting cheers from the student audience. The money from our Fuel Up to Play 60 grant helped us purchase extra equipment to allow small group work within our classes and mentorship with our other students.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
The students are making it a point to be all inclusive in our physical activities and we also see it in the classrooms, hallways and at lunch. We love to see the students take a leadership approach to mentoring our special needs students.
