Students who do not care to eat their fruit may "donate" any uneaten/unopened food to the food bins. Students that have not had breakfast or may need a snack know they can access food in these bins. This cuts back on food waste and provides anyone with a quick-grab snack if they need it. It's a win-win! We have about 100 students in our 2nd busload and those students have to be at school an extra hour. For some of these students, the "grab and go" snack may be all they eat for the night. We are looking at ways to improve and grow this amazing program!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have students that walk nearly two miles home from school; these students always grab a snack before leaving to eat on the walk. The grab and go snacks are a huge help for so many of our students.
